Norwood Home Tour and Lecture

I am pleased that Historic Norwood has chosen one of my paintings for the poster announcing the lecture to be given on Saturday, May 7th, by Jane Powell, proceeds to benefit Historic Norwood. Ms. Powell is a well known expert regarding the style and authentic restoration of the bungalow style home.

Historic Norwood is having it's second "Hard Hat Home Tour" this Saturday, May 7th, from 11:00 to 4:00.

Laura's House

A lot of things have happened that have kept me from painting very much this past year. I won't be doing any outdoor art shows this year but I am working toward a show at Four Seasons Gallery in Homewood come September. I am still accepting commissions; I finished this one of a gorgeous old family home right before Christmas.

Melissa's House

I can't believe it's been so long since I posted anything! I've been meaning to post this one for several weeks now. This is Melissa's house in Birmingham. For some reason the camera didn't pick up the blue of the sky, it is blue. Melissa's house is on a steep hill. You can see the Jefferson County Historical plaque next to the front door.

Terrace Court

It's been a long time since I've updated but I had to take some time off for personal reasons. I'm busy with commissions now and this is one of those. Terrace Court apartments, built in the twenties, are on 20th street south in Birmingham.  This was done for the owner of the building.

I don't have any shows scheduled for the rest of the year but I hope to be back next year.

Mobile Bay in Late Afternoon

I based this painting on a photo I took last year when I was down in Fairhope for a show. So this is on the Fairhope side of the bay. I liked the way the foreground was dark and framed the pale sky and the water looked darker and bluer as it flowed into the shadows.

Bottega Building

This is a small (10" x 8") painting of the doorway of the Bottega Building on Highland Avenue that I just took to Four Seasons Gallery in Homewood. I did it as a study for a larger painting but I liked it enough to frame it on it's own. I changed the color of the doors from taupe to green as it needed some color.

Lisa's House

I had to take a little time off but I'm back at the easel now and should have some new works soon. This is a commission I completed recently, Lisa's house in Homewood.

St. Paul's

This weekend (October 17 & 18) I'll be at the Kentuck Festival in Northport, Alabama.

City Afternoon

A view of the Birmingham from the corner of 17th Avenue and 14th Street. I used a little artistic license because you really can't see the city quite this well from here. At least when the trees are in leaf you can't.

This is a painting I did earlier in the year but I have changed it. There was a sign on the building that I decided I didn't like so I have painted it out. I like the simplicity of it.

Lynn's House

Just finished this commission for my friend Lynn and I think it turned out great. It's just the type of scene I would have chosen to paint. What is it about a bungalow that makes it feel so welcoming and comfortable?

First Day of Summer

Twelve of my paintings will be on display at the Hoover Library, downstairs gallery, through June 2, if you'd like to see my latest work. First day of Summer was inspired by a scene on the curve where 29th Street South meets Rhodes Circle.
